Privacy Policy
Effective 26 October 2026
Kiss the Ring is run by Craig O'Neill. This page says what the game collects about you, what it's for, and how to have it deleted. The short version: we collect what it takes to run the game, we don't show you ads, we don't track you across other apps, and we don't sell anything about you.
What we collect
- Sign-in. You can play without signing in: your phone keeps a random key that lets it back into your character, and we store only a scrambled copy of it. When you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an identifier for your account and an email address. If you chose Hide My Email, it's an Apple relay address, not your real one. When you start a character without signing in, the app also sends the identifier Apple gives this app on your phone (not one other apps can see), so we know which characters began on the same phone.
- Your character. The name, class, gender, picture, tagline and emoji signature you choose, and any Custom Portrait you upload.
- How you play. Your level, stats, money, items, properties, jobs, fights, mob and the rest of your game history.
- What you write. Comments, bulletins and other messages you post, and any reports you make or that are made about you.
- Notifications. A push token from Apple, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when you're attacked or mobbed.
- Purchases. Apple's record of what you bought, so we can check it and credit your Gold Coins. We never see your card or payment details.
- Where you found us. If an Apple Ads advertisement led you to the game, Apple tells the app which campaign and search keyword it was, and the app passes that to us once. We keep it with your account to learn which ads bring players who stay. If no ad led you here, Apple says so and that's all we learn.
- Server logs. Our servers log each request, including its IP address, for security and to fix problems.
The game shows no advertising, uses no third-party analytics, and doesn't track you across apps or websites.
Who sees what
- Other players see what a game shows about a player: your name, picture, level, class, fight record, mob size, the items you carry (not how many), a range for your net worth, and what you post.
- Anyone with an invite link you share sees your name, level and picture on the invite page.
- We can see everything the game stores, to run it, keep it fair and deal with reports.
Who else handles it
- Apple, for sign-in, purchases and push notifications.
- Cloudflare, which carries traffic between the app and our servers.
- Sentry, which receives our servers' error reports. A report says what went wrong and may include your player number, but never what your app sent us or your sign-in details.
- Anthropic, whose Claude AI runs the game's characters, but only if you allow it. See AI in the game, below.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the game's data.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
AI in the game
The city's characters (the bosses, Big Tony, Sal and the rest) are run by Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. The game asks you, once, whether it may send what you write to Claude, and nothing of yours goes to Claude until you say yes. If you do, Anthropic receives:
- Talking to characters: what you write to a character, what the two of you said before, and your player name, level and the game facts the character needs to answer, such as a job you're doing for them.
- The 8 Ball: your question and your own game state, never anyone else's.
- Reports: when someone reports something you wrote, Claude reads it to help us decide. If you made a report, any note you added goes with it.
Anthropic uses this only to produce the answer and doesn't use it to train its models. If you say no, characters won't talk with you or offer you missions, the 8 Ball answers at random, and reports about what you write are reviewed by a person instead. You can change your answer at any time in Settings.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days, and backups for up to 30 days after that.
Deleting your account
Delete your account in Settings, inside the game. That erases your character, your history and everything you wrote, and disconnects the game from your Apple Account. Other players' fight histories keep a line saying they fought a "Deleted player", with nothing that identifies you. Backups age out within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, download or delete the information we hold about you, or to object to how we use it. Email us and we'll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Kiss the Ring is for adults 18 and over, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think someone under 18 is playing, tell us and we'll delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll say so in the game before it takes effect.
